Background & Training

Chris graduated from the prestigious British School of Osteopathy in London in 2002 โ€” one of the oldest and most respected osteopathic institutions in the world. He has since built over two decades of clinical experience treating patients across a wide range of conditions.

Specialising in cranial osteopathy, Chris uses a gentle, hands-on approach that works with the body's natural rhythms rather than against them. This technique is particularly effective for patients who haven't responded well to more forceful treatments, and is suitable for all ages โ€” from newborns to elderly patients.

Chris is an ACC registered provider, which means he can lodge your ACC claim directly โ€” no GP referral required. He practises from two locations in Hawke's Bay: Napier CBD and Te Awanga.

Life beyond the treatment table

Since settling in Hawke's Bay, Chris has spent a lot of time exploring the region on two wheels โ€” bikepacking and cycling through the ranges, the wine country, and everything in between. The hills here are hard to resist.

More recently he's returned to the ocean. These days you'll find him surfing the coast and โ€” when there's a decent wind โ€” learning to wing foil. It's a steep learning curve, but that's half the fun.

Living and playing in this environment is part of what keeps him grounded. It also gives him a genuine appreciation for the physical demands that sport and outdoor life place on the body โ€” something that informs his work in the clinic every day.

Philosophy

How Chris works

Gentle by nature

No cracking, clicking or forceful manipulation. Chris uses subtle, sustained pressure that works with your body's own healing response.

Whole-body view

Osteopathy looks beyond the site of pain to find the underlying cause. A sore neck may stem from tension in the shoulders, jaw, or even lower back.

Suitable for all ages

From newborns with feeding difficulties to elderly patients with long-term pain โ€” cranial osteopathy is safe and effective across all life stages.

ACC registered

Chris is a registered ACC provider and handles the paperwork for you. No GP referral needed โ€” simply book and attend.

Two convenient locations

Clinics in central Napier and Te Awanga mean you're never far from treatment, wherever you are in Hawke's Bay.

Honest, open care

Chris will always explain what he's found, what he's doing, and what to expect. You'll leave with a clear understanding of your treatment.

Beyond Human Patients

Animal osteopathy โ€”
horses & dogs

In 2004, Chris trained in animal osteopathy under Stuart McGregor at the Osteopathic Centre for Animals in Wantage, Oxfordshire, England. Stuart is widely regarded as one of the world's leading practitioners in the field, and training under him gave Chris a thorough grounding in animal anatomy, biomechanics, and hands-on technique.

Chris works with horses and dogs, applying the same cranial osteopathy he uses with human patients, along with high velocity thrust (HVT) for spinal mobilisation in horses where appropriate. The same whole-body philosophy โ€” finding the cause, not just treating the symptom โ€” applies equally well to animals.
