About
Cranial Osteopath · ACC Registered · Napier & Te Awanga

Chris York has been practising as a cranial osteopath for over 20 years, helping patients in Hawke's Bay regain comfort, mobility, and wellbeing. His approach is gentle, thorough, and always focused on the whole person — not just the symptom that brings you in.
After training in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, Chris established his practice in Napier, where he now sees patients from across Hawke's Bay at two locations: central Napier CBD and coastal Te Awanga.
Cranial osteopathy is a subtle but highly effective approach that works with the body's inherent rhythms to release tension patterns deep in the body. Chris also uses structural osteopathic techniques including high-velocity thrust (HVT) where appropriate, tailoring each treatment to the individual.
In 2004, Chris trained in animal osteopathy under Stuart McGregor at the Osteopathic Centre for Animals in Wantage, Oxfordshire, England — one of the leading centres for animal osteopathy in the world.
He works with horses and dogs, applying cranial osteopathy and HVT (high-velocity thrust for spinal mobilisation) to help animals recover from injury, improve performance, and maintain musculoskeletal health.
When not in the clinic, Chris is an avid cyclist who can be found exploring the roads and trails of Hawke's Bay — which gives him a personal appreciation for sports injuries and the demands of an active lifestyle.
